Often, atonement is viewed as a goal to be achieved or as a joining to be achieved. However, atonement is simply the ongoing, constant function of spirit as viewed from the world of appearances (sometimes called illusion or the dream). The reality of spirit's function is creation always, the maintaining and extension of peace. From the world of appearances, spirit's function is experienced as love influencing the mind and enabling it to understand, converting false ideas and appearances to truth…in other words, restoration or atonement. The love of spirit calls us to realize that we are love, that we are spirit…and as that realization becomes clear, actualization occurs wherein we know what we are, we know what spirit is, we know what love is. It is seen to be the perfect peace of reality extending itself as us.
