ABOUT "THIS LITTLE PIGGY" - 1999
Blessings friends. Being several years since This Little Piggy (a short story on this site) was written,
I thought perhaps for the first time, I would comment on the purpose of writing it.
When this as the few other short stories were written from meditation, no
plan or purpose was set in mind. Rather, the story simply flowed to me and I
worded the concepts as they arrived in mind. It was after the fact of
writing them that the meaning and deep purpose they alluded to came to light.
The allusion to the Christ in the second main pig-character is
unmistakeable. However, unlike the more common idea of a single Christ
figure that is higher and somehow filled with more noble purpose and
aspiration, this character shares with the nameless first pig-character that
he viewed the first as a Christ-like figure as well, illustrating that we
each play our part in loving one another. Secondly, it was shown that how
each viewed the other had no particular bearing on the truth of their
inherent Christ nature; which, when released to each other and those around
them, began a fire that affected an entire region of pig-characters.
Another area that this story brings to light is the understanding that
it is not by our own power to gain and survive that one does indeed gain and
survive. For it was not by the accumulation of corn nor the eating of it
that they found survival; but rather, in loving each other and caring deeply
enough to find peace and share it...they discovered a way to step beyond the
"consumption cycle" into a co-existing world that did not need to eat in
order to live...and therefore, also did not need to go through the piggish
antics to accumulate enough corn for survival.
Deep in the core of our being, the altar of our love is aflame with all
we need to BE what we are and to find the awareness that shows us we are
wholly loving and that this lovingness IS life...far more than food and drink
could ever bring.
It became pointedly clear that sharing something as foreign as this with
most people was about impossible. And yet, here and there one was found that
was both willing and ready to hear it...and those came and joined in the
songs of the heart that made them to dance on two feet and find reverence for
the joy of life.
There, in the midst of a mixed crowd of loving participants and mildly
interested onlookers, the fountain of life and love arose to flow across the
hills and valleys, blessing all who would look beyond the lust that had held
them captive. Something more giving and needed than the waters of the many
rivers that supplied the corn, was the river of life that flowed through
these two to their fellows.
Ponder in your quietest heart corner that life is beyond that which we
have formerly called living and that love is an inner source that far
surpasses any caring relationship that inevitably drifts into nothingness at
death if not before. In the peaceful setting on a hillside overlooking the
world's woes, in the peaceful observation of something more than what most
people have thought important, a glory that defied the world about them,
overcame them to tears of joy and simply made the world and its woes seem dim
and unimportant. And so it is for each of us on this list if we will relax
and understand the import of the messages which simplistic meditation brings to
light within our breasts that permeates and envigorates our bodies, our lives
in the world, and the very fabric of our existence in all realms.
That each of you may relax into pure awareness and know beyond all doubt
that this story is not merely a fiction and fantasy...but is a metaphor that
transcends its seemingly fictional aspects and illuminates the reality that
you are within your own self...this is my hope, my prayer and the purpose of
this list (discussion list available through link on menu).
